Mother 3 is a role-playing video game developed by HAL Laboratory and Brownie Brown and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance handheld video game console. It is the third video game in the EarthBound series. It began its development for the Super Famicom in 1994, and was later moved to the Nintendo 64DD, and then the Nintendo 64 as EarthBound 64 in English. After being in development for six years, it was ultimately canceled due to the developers' inexperience with 3D design. Development was reopened for the Game Boy Advance in 2003 in a commercial for Mother 1 + 2, and it was ultimately released in 2006. Up until its release, the game remained near the top of Famitsu's most wanted games list. It was met with success, selling 338,382 as of 26 June, 2006. It was directed by Nobuyuki Inoue, written by Shigesato Itoi, and composed by Shogo Sakai.
