Lunar Explorer Lunar Explorer is an educational program for space and Moon enthusiasts. The user has the ability to visit any part of the lunar surface by either manually piloting to the location in "flight" mode, or by using the "auto-pilot" with explicit latitude/longitude coordinates. It is possible to crash into the surface using manual mode, so be careful! You must first go into orbit before attempting a manual landing.

Almost all of the Apollo landing sites, and a few other geological features, like Tycho crater, have higher quality terrain data than the base detail level, approaching resolutions of 1-5 meters per pixel. The base terrain data resolution is less than 100 meters per pixel at the equator.

Two complete sets of imagery are included with Lunar Explorer: gray-scale, and color ratio. Imagery data resolution is approximately 100 meters per pixel. The color ratio data describes the geological makeup of the surface, reds indicate older features while blues younger.

Nearly all landing craft, probes, rovers and debris have been modeled and include historical and technical information that may be viewed in the object browser.

Other features include range finder, snapshot tool, and more. [source:mobygames]
