A Decision of Parmount Importance is the 2nd place winning game of the 2010 Life. Love. Game Design Challenge. The contest's challenge was to create a video game intentionally designed to engage and educate young people about the issue of teen dating violence without using any violence in the game itself. The contest is run by the Gaming Against Violence program, an initiative of the nonprofit organization Jennifer Ann's Group.
Many variables change in this game. The name of the characters, the items found, and the ultimate outcome are randomly selected for each game session to promote multiple gameplay experiences.
Teen dating violence is a public health issue. This video game is intended to increase awareness, educate youth, and to change unhealthy attitudes or beliefs regarding dating relationships.
A Decision of Paramount Importance was developed by Thomas Liu. The game was published by Life Love Publishing and produced by Jennifer Ann's Group.
