Allods Online is an online RPG and the fourth title in the Rage of Mages series. The whole background story fuses on the mysterious and powerful Great Cataclysm, which fills up the whole space. It caused the planet Sarnaut to be destroyed and the planet splinters were called Allods. In the years to come those Allods developed independently from each other until one of the six races, the Gibberlings, developed a way to protect people and ships from the Great Cataclysm - but unfortunately this caused an ongoing war between the two factions, alliance and empire. Now the player starts on one of the Allods, affiliated with one side, and tries to make his way...

The basics of this game are similar to other games of the same kind: The player walks through the world and fulfills quests; either by himself or together with a group. This rewards experience points which are used to improve the own character: there are eight classes which can be specialised with different talents and abilities. Every character fatigues after a while; this has a negative effect on received experience. It can either be fixed by stop playing or paying money to special characters in taverns.

While the player is stuck on the Allods in the beginning of the game, exploring the galaxy plays an important part later on. Then cooperating with other players, optimally a guild, becomes very important: operating a ship requires multiple players and many quests lead into player vs. player areas. Constructing an own individual space ship takes up a lot of resources, which is of course sped up with more participants. Other than that the crafting system simply requires the correct job skills, collecting resources and mixing them together with a recipe.

The game is free to play and finances itself with a shop system, called the boutique. Here players can use real money to purchase items which change the character's appearance or offer gameplay aid, e.g. potions to reset the talent points or improve the crafting abilities. [source:mobygames]
