America's Army 3 America's Army 3 is the third main installment of the America's Army franchise. This official game of the U.S. Army is an online multiplayer shooter. The only singleplayer-part is the Basic Combat Training (BCT), which is a tutorial. In contrast to the previous entries in the series, playing it is no longer required - but players may not use weapons like sniper rifles or grenades before being trained for them. Both teams in multiplayer take the role of the Army; but sees the other as Eastern European fighters.

The game offers multiple infantry classes and weapons. Players are bound by Rules of Engagement (ROE) and gain experience through online play, e.g. by killing enemies or reanimating wounded team mates. The latter is played out in a mini game. Up to 13 people can join a team and are divided into four-man "fire teams" with a leader, soldier, machine gun and grenade soldiers. Every squad has to be filled before the next can be opened up. This means the available roles are limited, e.g. there is only one sniper per team, and the player with the highest rank (determined by earned experience) can choose bis role first.

An unusual feature is that there are no hit or kill messages - so players can't be sure if they killed an enemy or if he just went into cover. Achievements and commendations are also earned through performing according to the Army Values in online missions. [source:mobygames]
