Arena Wars Reloaded, as the name suggests, is more of a remake than a real successor to Arena Wars.

Like in the original, the game focuses on fast and action-oriented strategy matches. In the three different main game modes, Capture the Flag, Bombing Run and Domination, you have a fixed amount of money available to build your units. If a unit is destroyed, the cash is returned. Since there are only six units you can build, it is important to choose the right balance to fulfil the goals.

Besides the greatly improved graphics with new graphic sets, and a new interface that allows you now to choose the desired unit from a list, there are two new buildings you can take over. One of them is the rocket tower. Its strength depends on the unit you send into it. If you only send in a little buggy, it won't be able to shoot many rockets at once, but if you choose a Berserker you will end up with a devastating tool. The second new building is the resource structure that generates money if one of your units is in it. There are a few new power-ups, such as smoke that hides your unit for 20 seconds behind a wall of fog. The AI has been improved and there are several new maps included mixed with the old ones.

The heart of the game is still the multi-player mode which is now fully ESL-supported. That means you have a normal online ladder but also the official ESL ladder. You can now directly access your ESL-account and play ranked matches. But the AI is not excluded from the normal ladder. So-called server bots of different difficulty levels roam around as well.
