Your grandfather, a master sushi chef, is retiring and handing the business over to you. Master the art of making sushi, keep the customers happy and keep your grandfather's legacy alive.
Asami's Sushi Shop is a match-three game with a bit of time management thrown in. In the main part of the game, customers sit at your counter and decide on their selection. Using your mouse, swap two items so as to create a straight line of three or more of the same of whatever the customer wanted. You must sell to the required coin amount to clear the level. Don't take too long or the customer will become frustrated and leave. If a customer is getting frustrated, you can give them a candy to appease them. A customer may request other things after they get their food, like a Maneki Neko ("Beckoning Cat" statue), wasabi (a strong flavored Japanese condiment) or gari (sweet pickled ginger).
If you make a match of four of the same items, you get a dragon bonus. This will clear an entire row or column of sushi depending on the direction it faces. If you match five of the same, you get a double dragon bonus that clears both a row and a column. Randomly, you will have a present that when clicked will give you money or candy. Also, randomly, a bag appears that when clicked will scatter coins. You then must click the coins before they disappear. Every so many levels, you fly back to your grandfather to master a sushi preparation technique, mostly in making makizushi (rolled sushi). In these, you will have the makisu (bamboo mat) already covered with a nori (seaweed sheet). When the items at the bottom are at the correct spot, you will place the shari (sushi rice) and other ingredients, roll the sushi and cut it. If done right, you will have mastered the lesson.
