Blocmania 3D is a Tetris variant that differs from Alex Pajitnov's original mainly in the graphical presentation. Except for the game's 3D graphics and a multiplayer mode there is little that differs from the original falling block puzzle game. The gameplay of Tetris involves guiding geometrical shapes of four squares (although Blocmania 3D also has shapes consisting of more squares), called tetrominoes, to create lines. The shapes appears randomly and falls from the top of the screen. The player can then moves these left or right and spin them around so that they fit in with the shapes that have already fallen on the bottom of the playfield. When a horizontal line of blocks is created it disappears and any block above it will fall down to take its place. After clearing a number of lines the level will change and for every level the shapes will fall faster and therefore make the game harder.
In addition to the singleplayer mode, Blocmania 3D also allows the player to compete against another player locally on the same computer. The gameplay is the same as in the singleplayer mode but when the player clears multiple lines, penalty lines of the same number will be added on his opponent's screen.
