Carcassonne is a turn-based strategy game based on the German board game with the same name. The players has to put tiles together that form cities, roads, meadows, and monasteries. Each player has to place one tile each turn, and can optionally place one of their 8 follower pieces on that tile, as long as no other player already has claimed that area. When placing new titles, separate roads, cities and meadows can grow together. In the end, it is the player with the most followers on any given area scores the points.
Carcassonne support 2-5 players. Each player can either be a human, or an AI-player. The game support Internet-play, wi-fi, bluetooth or several players on the same device as the game is turn-based.
This version also includes a solitaire mode. In this single-player mode, the objective is to complete a settlement of cities and roads in every size from 2 to at least 6 tiles in order, with using as little space as possible, and also using as few pieces as possible.
This original release of this game uses the third set of rules, and includes only the core game without any expansions. The river, which is included in all later revisions of the board game is not included in this game.
