Ahoy, matey! You've just gotten your own island. Now build it up and attract scalawags from the sea that want to settle down. Gather loot and earn a reputation as you earn promotions to make you island a Caribbean hideaway.

Caribbean Hideaway is a match three game. You cursor is carrying an item. Find a tile on the board that, if swapped with the one your carrying, will form a straight row of three or more. Place your pointer on that tile and click the mouse button. The item will be swapped with whatever item was below. Keep doing that same action until you clear the chapter.

To clear the chapters, you must complete the required matches. On the first chapter, you must just make matches over the blue shaded tiles to clear them. When all blue tiles are clear, the chapter is clear. On the second chapter, you must match pirates. When you have matched enough pirates, the chapter is cleared. The third chapter has you making matches of treasure chests. You must match the ones that have gold in them to clear the level.

On the island screen, if you have the funds, you can build buildings. These buildings will gain you power-ups in the chapters. The smith will gain you hammers. When the hammer meter is filled, you can use it to clear one tile. The lodge will gain you crewmen. When the army meter fills, you can use it to clear several random tiles. The tavern gains you hourglasses. When that meter fills, you can use it to gain time on the clock. The cannon factory will allow you to purchase cannon balls.
