Doom Rails Doom Rails is a fast-paced shooter in carts racing on the rails of amusement park rides, created by a character called Mad Doc Jr. There are five main levels all designed around a different theme, multiple branching paths over the courses, and nine characters, each with a different cart, to choose from.

The carts generally move at a fixed speed, but they can also be halted. Turbo can be applied, but this drains a red bar that takes some time to refill. While driving the course players can engage enemies using weapons such as rockets, mines and pulse charges. It is also possible to drive into opponents directly, crash head-on (the one with the fastest speed wins) or jump on top of them. There are levers that activate new hazards on the course such as swinging obstacles. While riding, the cart can jump and lean left or right. Leaning is used to divert the course when a new path is available, but it is also needed to pick up the different power-ups scattered around the course. Other items are fuel that restores the turbo meter right away, a protective shield, health and different coins. Only two power-ups can be equipped at all times, left or right. When dying, the cart immediately respawns.

In the single player mode the different courses need to be unlocked by completing missions for Mad Doc Jr. These are all time limited and include gathering a number of coins, flipping all levers, destroying a number of enemies or surviving for a set amount of time. An online (and LAN) mode is available for up to eight players, with general and team deathmatch modes. Computer-controlled bots can also be added in. [source:mobygames]
