Edgar: Cave of Secrets Edgar is a furry little creature with a distinct curiosity that tends to get him into trouble. This time he got himself trapped in an extensive cave system from which he can only escape with a lot of skill and savvy.

The cave system consists of 45 independent rooms - 5 tutorial caves and 40 main caves - each with a single exit that Edgar has to open by solving puzzles. Each exit will guide Edgar to the next room until he will eventually reach daylight again.

Edgar can walk and float ? by rotating his tail ? through the rooms. He digs through loose dirt effortlessly and pushes single objects ? like boulders ? out of his way provided the area behind them is not blocked. However, he is not strong enough to stop falling objects whereas it is no problem for him to dig a path underneath a still object.

The exit of each room opens when all balloons and symbol blocks in that room got eliminated. They disappear when they touch an identical element, so, basically, Edgar has to bring the objects together. This is not always an easy task as they often seem to be unreachable far away from each other or because there are odd numbers of objects of the same kind. In that case, Edgar must find a clever solution since bringing together only two of them would leave the third one behind. In some rooms, Edgar also has to pick coloured keys to open doors of the same colour to proceed.

Edgar meets creatures like bats, spiders, ghosts or skeletons along his way which go after him immediately if they detect him. Sometimes, he can knock them out by dropping a boulder onto their tops or luring them into the magma, for example. In most cases, however, Edgar is well advised to stay away from them contrary to the treasure chests and crystals he can collect along his way (to raise the high score).

Neither a time limit exists, nor are Edgar's lives restricted. The progress is saved automatically, so Edgar can take his time to solve the puzzles of each room and give it a new try, if he gets injured or the room got unsolvable. Edgar is also allowed to skip three rooms. So even if he can't figure out the solution for the current room, he still has the chance to proceed with the game. Rooms that were solved, however, can be played again to gain a better score. [source:mobygames]
