In Elements of War, the US military experiments with elemental weapons - with horrendous results: storms and tornadoes lay the US to waste. And if that's not enough, European forces invade the country to get hold of this groundbreaking technology. And then there are the paramilitary "Patriots" who rise up against the US military with the same goal in mind...
This game is a traditional tactics game without base building. The player doesn't have to do without reinforcements, however, because every solved mission goal results in tactics points, which can be used to buy new units. As those are not transferred to the next mission and units gain no experience, it is wise to use them - but it is still important to think about the army composition because there is a tight unit limit and the only way to is get of one is to let it die. The game is played in real-time, but the action can be paused anytime to issue orders.
The campaign features twelve scripted missions, in which the player takes the role of all three war parties. Weapons and units don't only consist of the usual tanks and soldiers; every faction has its own elemental weapons which are used to influence the weather, e.g. by invoking an earthquake.
