Enemy of Chaos is a satirical fantasy/sci-fi gamebook simultaneously released both in conventional print form and as an iPhone / iPod Touch app. The player controls the actions of an aging, mildly autistic nerd in a humourously exaggerated version of the real world, navigating around and overcoming such obstacles as traffic jams and the vagaries of the postal system while uncovering a sinister conspiracy at the heart of Madame Tussaud's empire of wax statuary. The game opens with the protagonist answering the call to employment they'd been awaiting all this time: "Person with superior reasoning ability required."
While book readers have to hunt for numbered paragraph references like backwards primitives, in the mobile electronic version of the gamebook plot fork selections are picked from a list by touching them. In the app version of the gamebook additional material that didn't make it into the print run can be read and enjoyed, and the program also automates die-rolling and tracking of the character's vital statistics (WPM, IQ, BMI and OCD score on top of the conventional SKILL, STAMINA and LUCK).
