This was one of three games released as a tie-in to the 20th anniversary re-release in theaters of the movie E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. It's a 3D adventure with 12 games where those 8 years and up can move E.T. to explore various areas, partake in activities and quests, and interact with other characters such as Elliot, Gertie, and Michael. Movie trailers can be seen on the login screen.
E.T. has become stranded on Earth and in order for him to phone home, he has to find certain items so he can build a communicator to contact his home planet and to have his spaceship pick him up. The player's cursor is E.T.'s finger with which you can move him and around and click on objects. It illuminates when an action or a response can be performed and turns into a grasping hand when items can be picked up and put into his backpack such as candy, a coat hanger, or a key. A task bar onscreen will show the collected items until E.T. can use them and also you can access Elliot or Gertie to help you. Players can save their progress at any time or exit. Locations include Elliot's bedroom, Gertie's closet, the main floor and attic of the children's home, and the famous moonlit bicycle ride. E.T. can use his healing power to save flowers and use logic to solve puzzles to obtain certain items.
