Evochron: Alliance is a sci-fi action game where the player controls a space ship. Aliens want to conquer the earth and the player needs to prevent this. But this story is subsidiary, the main focus of the game lies in the space exploration. As most space games it is played in a first person perspective with various information displayed in the cockpit. The combat is action oriented but there still are many buttons to press.

During the game the player wants to become stronger which means buying better gear or build new ships. This costs money and the player is free to choose how to earn it. He can trade between several space stations, search for mineral resources, become a merchant or a pirate. The game also features a reputation system which means attacking other ships without a good reason results in a hostile reaction when meeting other sips or visiting a space station in the same system. When the player has to fight pirates himself a good reputation can save his life - when friendly ships are nearby they may choose to help him out if they like him enough. [source:mobygames]
