The second of the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks to be the subject of multiple video game adaptations, this conversion (like its iPhone predecessor) goes back to its roots and faithfully re-presents the content of gamebook #6 from 1984. In that book, the player directs the actions of an adventurer in the medieval fantasy land of Allansia, risking his life to enter the depraved Baron Sukumvit's grand annual challenge in the town of Fang: be the first to survive his trap- and monster-filled dungeon and fabulous prizes can be yours! (It's a bit like a Middle Ages Smash T.V.)

As in most gamebooks, most of the interaction here is Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style, the player picking between damned-if-you-do and damned-if-you-don't options in the infernal dungeon; there is randomness achieved through simulated die-rolling (shake the iPod and its accelerometer coughs up 2D6!) and of course RPG stat-management (Fighting Fantasy's classic three: SKILL, STAMINA and LUCK) is handled automatically by the computer -- streamlining play and eliminating the gamebook cheater's perennial option of pretending the roll made had been successful and proceeding.
