The player controls, through mouse taps, a ball that is knocked about underwater in hopes to touch all varieties of marine life living there (barring the spiny pufferfish, contact with which will remove one of three balls.) It's kind of like those challenges to keep a soccer ball in the air with a series of small kicks, but upside-down. Occasional power-ups include a point modifier and temporary pufferfish invulnerability; points are bestowed every time the ball surfaces, but the longer it stays underwater and the more fish it touches, the greater the final point haul will be.
