Gamma IV plays like the laser show of a Daft Punk concert, with electro-heavy beats and a pulsing spectrum of coloured beams, similar to the waves of audio visualization applications. The game is split up in different scenes with progressive difficulty and a single music track in the background, bridging all scenes. The player controls four laser beams in different directions, with gameplay similar to Snake games where pressing a single button changes the direction of the beam by 90 degrees, clockwise. The beams move forward automatically, at a fixed speed. Unlike Snake however there is no trail left behind that needs to be avoided. In every scene the four laser beams are controlled at the same time, and generally their movement is mirrored symmetrically. To complete a scene, all cubes need to be hit. This is fairly easy in the initial levels, but touching a wall is instant death and in later levels there are turrets that shoot deadly red lasers. Only in the last level there are differences in the symmetrical movement that require a more precise approach. After completing the game it starts over right away. It is named after the Gamma IV independent games competition for which it was an entry and the competition's theme was "One Button".
