Goats and Tigers is a freeware, open-source implementation of Bagh-Chal, an ancient Asian board game originally drawn on sand and played with stones. Two players move pieces over the intersecting lines crisscrossing a 5x5 square grid. The players take turns, where one controls the four tiger pieces initially stationed at the corners of the grid, while the other adds twenty goat pieces to block their movement.
The tiger pieces can only remove goats by jumping over them to the next node. After placing the last piece, the player controlling the goats has to move them around the board to block the tigers, while the player controlling the tigers has to remove all the goats to win. In this version, the player can control the butterflies as the goats or the moths as the tigers against the computer, or play a third mode with a time limit for each move.
