Henry, the grandfather of a cook apprentice called Ginger, goes around the world searching for recipes, leaving his niece to take care of the family restaurant. Ginger has to take jobs to acquire experience and fill the cookbook with new dishes.
Go-Go Gourmet is a time-management game with elements from the hidden object genre. The main interface shows a restaurant kitchen, with food laying around, and orders at the right side of the screen listing the required ingredients for the recipes. The objective is to achieve a minimum amount of money, fulfilling orders by clicking on the ingredients to make the dishes, and delivering them by either clicking on the order or the tray at the bottom. A clock shows the time left before the restaurant closes.
Some recipes require an extra cooking step, displayed on the order as an icon for the kitchen appliance to be used. The player can jump from order to order at will, completing one while the cooking process is being performed on another.
A maximum of three orders accumulate, each with a portrait of the customer. The portrait background changes color to indicate the level of impatience of the customer. Pleased customers pay more, while angry customers can leave the restaurant in fury while their orders are still incomplete.
The money collected is used to reform Ginger's restaurant. Special prizes are received for speed and accuracy, and later added to the decoration as well. There are three money goals for each level, awarded with bronze, silver and gold medals.
Each restaurant has its own theme, culinary and unique ingredients. Bonus levels appear from time to time, where the objective is to collect all the ingredients listed in a notebook at the top-right, within a time limit. The hint button shows the location of an ingredient without any point penalty, but slowly recharges after use.
