To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man's original launch in video game arcades, Google placed a themed version of the game in place of their company logo on the homepage of their search engine website, which could be activated by either clicking on the playing field, or clicking on the 'insert coin' button next to the usual search button. The playing area has been re-worked so that the walls now spell the word 'GOOGLE'. The player controls Pac-Man by either using the mouse, clicking in the direction they wish for Pac-Man to move in, or by using the arrow keys on the player's keyboard.
By pressing the 'insert coin' button twice, a two-player mode can be accessed, allowing another player to join in as Ms. Pac-Man.
The game was a one-time event only, and was only available on the website's homepage for a single day -- but it lives on in a Google sub-page (see: Links/Searches on the left sidebar.)
