Hinter Gittern: Vol. II is based on the German TV series of the same name. The setting of the game and the series is the women's prison in Reutlitz.
At the beginning of the game the player's character Christine Walter comes across a conspiracy and has to find out who is behind the strange things that seem to happen in the prison. At the same time she has to fight her move to another prison in Preekow.
The game is a 3D adventure and the player has to talk to other prisoners, wardens and visitors to find out what is going on and who is behind the conspiracy. She has to find her way through the prison and also has to find ways to access before inaccessible areas without being detected.
