A new assistant set designer is hired by the boss of a Hollywood movie studio to clean the sets, and find all the props necessary to complete the scenes of film productions.
Hollywood: The Director's Cut is a straightforward hidden object game with a movie business theme. As the set designer, the player has to find and click on all the objects listed at the bottom of the screen, on the sets of various movies being filmed on the studio lot. Some sets have obstructions that must be removed initially before the object hunt begins, like cobwebs in a medieval castle, piles of bugs in an abandoned temple ruin and other things related to the movie plot. At the end of each section, the player must answer a trivia question about movies by choosing the correct option from multiple entries. If the option is wrong, the location is reset and has to be played over again.
The icons at the left side give access to game menus and other options. The postcard brings up the main menu, the camera lens makes the search for small objects easier by enlarging the location with a zoom view, the notepad displays a series of help screens about the game's interface. The green light at the bottom is the hint button, that shows the position of one of the required items when activated but takes some time to recharge after use. The game language can be set to English, French, Spanish, German and Italian.
