Game Classification

This remake of the platform game of 1983 completely updates the presentation, replacing the graphics and sounds with new ones while remaining faithful to the original gameplay. The player controls Jetman, an astronaut equipped with a jetpack and laser gun, that must fly around the screen and collect all the pieces of his rocket spaceship, to escape the planet where he is stranded and travel to the next one. The rocket sections are scattered around on various platforms, from where the protagonist has to drag them to the construction base at the bottom. Bizarre groups of aliens and other strange creatures float around trying to kill the hero, and he must be zap them with the gun to survive.

A plethora of random items fall on intervals from the top, from bonus items that give extra points to useful equipment like power-ups and fuel barrels for the ship. The power-ups include shields of variable strength, bombs and health boosts. Mushrooms start a hallucination where the aliens are replaced with waves of surreal objects crossing the distorted screen. If the rocket pieces are broken after landing too hard on the launch pad, Jetman has to pick up the repair kits and fix the damaged spacecraft parts. [source:mobygames]
