Jump Jet let's you fly the pride of the British navy, the Harrier VTOL fighter, across sea and land in order to fulfill a dangerous mission. The game plays in a side-scrolling shoot'em'up fashion. After lift-off from your base, your plane is attacked by enemy planes which must naturally be shot down. After crossing the sea and the mountains, you must attack a fortified island. Unlike normal sidescrollers, your plane actually flies faster than the chunky scrolling, making it reappear at the left end of the screen once it has reached the right side. An indicator at the bottom shows the status of your mission, whereas scores, levels and munitions levels are accounted for at the top. Much of the game is written in BASIC. [source:mobygames]
