K2 is a futuristic third-person shooter set in space with colourful graphics. It is the sequel to K, an abstract shoot-em-up prototype that was never finished. Players control a small craft in space fighting endless waves of enemies. There is complete freedom of movement, but enemies will chase the craft if it moves away. The game is entirely controlled through the mouse for movement - the left button shoots and the right button provides a speed boost. Regular lasers (depletable) do not cause much damage. Instead, the player has to use a mouse gesture to circle around enemies, completing a green circle to red, to lock on with rockets. These deal much more damage and if the player manages to take out the target using lasers before the rockets hit, they will split into multiple rockets and attack another target, causing chain mayhem described in the game as "fireworks". The game keeps track of the player's performance through a score and shows the remaining time until a next wave of enemies appear. While flying, small circles point to the enemies' direction.
