Legends of Norrath is an online-only digital trading card game, created by Sony Online Entertainment and tied to their EverQuest and EverQuest II games. Players can open the card game client from within either game, or non-EverQuest subscribers can download a stand-alone client playable from the desktop.

Legends of Norrath is based around avatar combat, with each player trying to deal damage to the card representing the leader of their opponent's forces. Depleting the hitpoints of the enemy avatar card is one way to win. Two quests are also always in play, and forces from either side line up at these quests to attack the opposing avatar, or protect their own. Ability cards may be spent toward completing quests each turn, and completing four quests also results in victory.

Players have multiple single-player campaigns (the number growing with each expansion), with each completed chapter granting reward cards for their deck. Players can also participate in both casual and official tournaments against each other, form guilds, tackle co-op raids, and trade cards using an in-game browser. Booster packs and additional starter decks may be purchased, and packs may contain a random "loot" card for that player's account, granting an item redeemable in either EverQuest or EverQuest II.

Legends of Norrath requires no monthly fee to play, however players must purchase a starter deck. Current subscribers to EverQuest or EverQuest II get a free starter deck, in addition to five free booster packs each month their subscription is valid. [source:mobygames]
