Lume is a point-and-click adventure entirely designed out of paper and cardboard, and then filmed. It tells the story of the girl Lumi who visits the house of her granddad. One night the electricity was cut and he decided to put solar panels on his roof to become self-sufficient. It has not worked out completely and he has left a note for Lumi to help restore full power to the house.
As the game was filmed, there is no full freedom of movement. Instead, moving around is triggered by clicking on hotspots. These also trigger items that can be interacted with. The majority of the game consists of self-contained logical puzzles that involve fixing wiring, matching the correct key with their shadow, or discovering codes for instance. Clues are provided in the environment and through cryptic messages. There is however an inventory where picked up items can be stored. The game can be saved in a single save state.
