This freeware remake of the science-fiction space shooter from 1983 replaces the old, 8-bit graphics and sounds with new assets while remaining faithful to the original gameplay. Once again, the player controls Jetman, an astronaut equipped with a jetpack on a mission to destroy a hostile alien base on the moon. The main objective is to carry a large, round bomb and drop it on the alien installation, by traveling across the landscape with either the jets or the lunar rover. The vehicle can't jump over gaps of terrain, and any crater or other feature has to be bridged with a special metal kit deployed by the hero. Both pieces of equipment have limited amounts of fuel available, displayed as two meters at the top of the screen. The jetpack is automatically refueled when the main character enters the rover.
The moon is inhabited with roaming alien creatures moving on random patterns, killing the protagonist when touching him. Jetman is protected from danger when driving the rover, but exposed when flying around to accomplish the mission. He can shoot the waves of bizarre monsters with a laser gun, giving him some time to perform any necessary task. Teleporters can be found on certain sections, instantaneously transporting the hero to distant places. A cannon can be collected and mounted on the back of the rover, to provide artillery support while searching for the base. If the player takes too long to explode the base, two missiles are launched from it targeting the rover and Earth. As they appear crossing the screen, Jetman has a last chance to intercept and destroy them. If he fails, the game is over.
