M3 - Molesting the Match-3 Market turns the Tile-matching genre upside down. Inspired by statements from Kathy Vrabeck regarding casual games, Petri Purho puts the player in the role of a casual games level designer. The goal is to create a level design for a match-3 game that awards the player with a large amount of points without doing anything. To succeed, the player need to construct the level field with different pieces of blue, green and yellow colours to create a large chain combo when a yellow piece enters the field from the top. The pieces are dragged from the sides to any location on the grid in the middle.
After the construction phase, the level can be tested and adjusted afterwards. The game was created in 48 hours for the 10th Ludum Dare 48 hour solo game development competition.
In the updated version all blocks are dropped first before there is a check for matches. The color of the blocks has also been changed for higher contrast.
