Magicama: Beyond Words is a first person, point-and-click puzzle game. There are literally no words at all in the game, hence the tag-line in the title.
The player uses a seek-and-find technique to locate 30 puzzle boxes scattered on a map of eastern Australia. Opening the puzzle box and clicking on its contents begins a new "task" containing multiple levelled puzzles which increase in difficulty. Puzzle challenges are of all types and range from simple to obscure. The puzzles involve patterns, pictures, moving objects, colors, shapes, numbers, path finding, cards, jigsaw, weights and measures and more. The solution to the puzzles largely depends upon the player's keen senses of observation, logic, concentration, strategy and open-mindedness.
Magicama can be played directly from the CD if desired. It features an in-game Hint system. A score is kept, and a reduction in score occurs each time the Hints are accessed. The player's progress is automatically saved. Gameplay is completely by mouse. Panoramic images of Australian locations add to the overall visual appeal, and classical music plays in the background.
