Your job, like in any snake game, is to move your snake, feed it (here with magic berries), and avoid obstacles (walls and your own snake body). Once a certain number of points is scored, you proceed to the next level. When all lives are gone, it's game over.
The first and major difference is, that you don't control a land snake, instead it is a sea serpent, which is all the time below the sea surface. But you are looking at the snake from above the water surface. And normally the water is crystal clear. However, when the snake makes a turn, or a berry is falling into the water, you see those turbulences as real water effects.
The second difference is that the game has a day/night cycle. But don't worry, your snake glows like a glow-worm, but only in white. Furthermore, after triggering a special power-up, there is even rain in the game, and each drop of water producing those water effects, including interference from two or more drops of water. And since you are viewing through the water surface, it can become difficult to control the snake their. And, of course, those effects are cumulative, so a rainy night is possible.
Third difference is about the snake itself. The snake has a weak heart, so it can't grow several meters. After reaching a critical length (25 length units), the snake will detach 19 units. So you have then again a short snake. The detached body however will turn to stone, increasing the amount of obstacles in the game.
Forth difference is the level design of each level. In every level, there are no walls by design, but all walls will stay when the level ends. So it will fill over time.
As mentioned before, you have to eat berries to get points for the next level. However, if you succeed in eating 5 berries of the same color in a row, a special power up (one associated with each color) get activated, like extra fruits fall down (and a rain starts) or transforming wall into berries, and, and, and...
Last thing to say is, that the playfield has no edges, moving out of the left side will move you snake from the right side into the playfield, and so on.
