Poker comes to mobile phones in Gameloft's classy Midnight series, using the popular Texas Hold'em rules. Shown through a 3rd-person perspective (multiple players) or 1st-person (head-to-head), you can either play instant games to practice, go heads-up, or enter a career mode. Typical of the Midnight series, there is interaction with the opponents, and they all have a drawn portrait and a certain attitude.
After winning a few games, you can move on to the career mode with buy-in tables, and if you keep winning you can access tables with bigger blinds and bets. The action keeps going clockwise and you keep track of other players' funds. When it's your turn, a menu in the top left corner pops up where you can decide to call, raise, fold, check, bet or go all-in. Following the rules, dealer responsibilities are also passed around, and there is even a little cheat built in. As a dealer, you can try to take a peek at the cards.
The game optionally includes the odds shown in the bottom left corner, and a host who introduces the table and comments on the game. The theme music is Average White Band's Pick Up the Pieces.
