Game Classification

An 8x8 grid is laid out before the player, randomly studded with profile pictures of various characters (or "morphs") from the video game Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb. In this haphazard layout arrangement, sometimes two of the same portrait will be adjacent vertically or horizontally (but for purposes of this game, not diagonally).

The player's job is to select two nearby touching portraits which, when their positions are swapped, will result in a brief display of three of the same portrait, in a row. Then the complete set flashes out of existence, the higher portraits fall down to fill in the gap, and new portraits take up position atop the pile.

Periodically a power-up (the Orb) appears to replace a completed set, which can be matched with an existing pair and clears an entire row or column. Each level set requires a certain number of points to be won (achieved through match-ups), before the game board is scrapped and the next level laid out.
