Nin²-Jump (pronounced "nin nin jump") is a platform action game with a very simple story: The evil ninja Namakura has kidnapped the princess Sakura, and it's up to the heroic ninja Nin-Ja to rescue her.
Nin-Ja starts out with only basic abilities: he can run and jump. The goal of each stage is to collect all the scrolls and reach the exit as quickly as possible. The game is divided into five worlds of ten stages each, and each world adds a new element to the game. For example, in the second world Nin-Ja acquires a kusarigami -- in effect, a grappling hook -- while in the third, he gains the ability to power up using the scrolls to attack enemies. The player is graded on their clear time for each stage, and there is also a hidden Cave logo on each stage to find. Leaderboards encourage replaying stages for better times. There is also a score attack mode where the player must use all of Nin-Ja's abilities to kill enemies and avoid death (literally -- death is a ghost that slowly chases him) for as long as possible.
The most unique aspect of the game is its visual style -- it is presented entirely as a Japanese shadow play, complete with sticks holding up objects and characters, and an audience at the bottom of the screen that cheers Nin-Ja on.
