Outer Empires is a persistent multi-platform Massively online multiplayer space trading simulation.
Each player starts out with a ship and a small sum of money. The player has an entire universe to explore. Star systems offer planets and space stations in which players can trade resources with the AI or other players. The idea is of course to make a profit by buying valuable goods at one place and selling them at another.
Another way to make money is by performing missions in the following varieties: transport, fighter, freight, exploration and bounty.
Money can be invested in better ships and equipment. It can also be invested in setting up the players own colonies to do their own resource productions, development and research.
Players can create and join human player guilds. Guilds receive their own chat channel.
Player can also join factions. Different factions strife for control of parts of the universe. Players can aid in this struggle.
The game is played with the mouse and is in 2D. Traveling takes a lot of time, but due to the persistent nature of the game the player can just select a destination, log out of the game and check back later.
The game is truely multi-platform, meaning that iPhone and Browser users play in the same game world.
