The land of Roop Nagar was invaded by the invincible Asura and his demon warriors. The king escaped to the surrounding forests, where he found the Pahelika, a magical book of great power. With the help of the tome, the king defeated Asura and regained the usurped throne. As a final act, he delivered the book to an ancient monk sect for safekeeping. Adventurers seeking its powers must prove their worth by completing six quests.

Pahelika: Secret Legends is an adventure game with simple puzzles, aimed at the casual market. Like in Myst and other traditional titles, the player navigates through a series of mostly static screens, collecting objects to use later. Interactive portions of the locations shimmer and sparkle when the cursor passes over them. Objects are stored in the inventory tray at the bottom, and can be dragged and dropped on parts of the scenery to solve puzzles.

Some puzzles are mechanisms that must be manipulated directly with the mouse. A few of them take place on a separate window, and are implementations of well-known classic titles like concentration, jigsaw and block-sliding puzzles. [source:mobygames]
