Perished: The Zurkez Project is a first-person game based on stealth and melee combat. Players control Zurkez, a child that has been genetically altered to have claws instead of hands. He escapes a cloning facility and needs to find out what has happened to him. The journey takes him through four missions: a forest, an underground base, a facility, and finally a town.
There is only one type of opponent in the entire game: a soldier armed with a gun. Zurkez needs to sneak around and attack them from behind with his claws to take them out. Approaching from the front usually means he is dead after two bullets. The only other ability he has is to jump. Sometimes there are buttons that need to be pressed to open a new entrance. Soldiers generally hold a stationary position, but some also have patrol patterns. Between missions there are cut-scenes drawn in pencil, with a voice-over. The game supports multiplayer to work together cooperatively through a local network. Next to the first-person mode there is a free-floating camera that can be used to explore the environment without boundaries, regardless of the character's position.
