Puerto Rico is the official PC translation of the eponymous board game. The basic rules: Every player (up to five) has a plantation and wants to earn as much money as possible with it. Every round one player is the "leader" and chooses his role. The catch: this role takes effect on every player. Then every player does his moves (which are restricted depending on the actual role) and so on.
Depending on the state of the players plantation and their sales they receive winning points. The goal is to have the most points at the end of the game. This means the "leader" has not only watch their own plantation but his opponents too so he doesn't give them advantages by choosing the wrong role. The six roles are settler (opening new plantation ), mayor (receiving new colonists), architect (constructing new buildings), supervisor (producing merchandise), merchant (selling merchandise) and captain (shipping merchandise).
This game features the usual improvements compared to the board version: AI opponents, multiplayer modes, automatic calculation of the winning points and a tutorial. The player can choose between a classical top-down view on the board or an animated 3D view. The game also includes a card set to expand the actual board game.
