Rangy Lil was a single mother of two in the days of the American Old West, raising them while working as a sharpshooter at a traveling circus. One evening, she was closing the tent after a performance when her ex-husband Bob sneaked from behind and hit her head with the butt of a rifle, knocking her out and fleeing with Emma and Estelle, her two little girls. Now she must use her skills to track him down to rescue the helpless children, crossing the vast regions of the West landscape.

Rangy Lil's Wild West Adventure is a straightforward hidden object game with a western theme, interspersed with a few puzzles to break monotony. Most of the time, the player has to carefully examine screens cluttered with assorted objects, searching and clicking on the required ones listed at the bottom. The hint button at the bottom-right shows the exact position of one of the items. An extra hint can be acquired by collecting the two horseshoes present on every scene. Cutscenes are shown as comic book panels, and sometimes the main character comments about the retrieved objects.

There are five mini-games that appear on a separate screen between the hidden object scenes. In the Uncover game, the objective is to place four pieces on four slots, arranging them to match the color of their touching sides. Swapping is a jigsaw puzzle, where an image has to be reassembled in a grid of square pieces by swapping two tiles each time. Hangman is an implementation of the classic word-guessing game. In Compare, the screen is split in two similar images and the player has to click on the differences. In Pop, the goal is to drag some points across the gamefield to unscramble lines, making them cross over balloons to make them explode. [source:mobygames]
