RedLynx Trials 2: Second Edition is essentially a physics-based simulation of motorcycle trial, in vein not dissimilar to Elasto Mania. However, unlike Elasto Mania, Trials is rendered in full 3D, with a handful of high resolutions available and up-to-date graphical effects. This, however, has little effect on the gameplay, which is still based upon two dimensions. The game is a direct successor to the popular web-based Flash games sharing the same title.
In order to complete each level the player has to guide his motorcycle through a set of challenges. By leaning back and forward, the player move the center of mass of the bike, therefore keeping his balance. The back and the head of the rider are unprotected, if any of these body parts come in contact with the scenery the rider will fall in a spectacular way, due to implemented rag-doll physics. As the rider falls, the game keeps an amusing count of broken bones.
The other game types include: flip, wheelie and dynamic. The flip race challenges players to make as many flips as possible in a limited time, wheelie suggests riding on the back wheel for the longest distance, while dynamic race presents a set of puzzles among the moving obstacles.
The game features a total of 40 levels of three difficulty levels. The players may review the rides of the high-score table leaders and compete with them in the ghost mode, honing their own skills.
There is also a set of 25 achievements for the players to unlock.
