Saga: Rage of the Vikings is a fantasy Real Time Strategy game. The game lets you play six different races: Man, Trolls, Centaurs, Elves, Giants and Dwarfs.
Like traditional RTS games you start by building your settlement. Buildings for each race include housings, smiths and storehouses. Each race only has three types of units, males, females and druids. Males and females will automatically gather the resources required to start the construction of buildings. But you do have to gather and store enough food. You get food by working on the fields, foraging fruit, fishing, hunting and keeping kettle. The game features changing seasons and enough food is required to survive harsh winters.
Male and female units can mate to create a new unit through spending time together in a house. Both male and female units can perform any task described above and fight against enemy units. They can also be transformed in druids through performing sacrifice rituals. Druids can cast a variety of spells. All spells are based on the four elements. Some example spells are: Fire shields, poisonous clouds, setting the ground on fire, petrification, dense mist, shadow and undead warriors. One of the most powerful spells in the game allows you to summon Odin to fight by your side for a limited duration.
Honour determines the strength of your units. Winning fights against other tribes will decrease their honour and thus make them weaker. Killing women is against the honour code of the vikings and thus makes the offender weaker. It is possible to convert the women to your tribe.
Diplomacy is also possible in the game. You can forge alliances and trade resources with other tribes.
