Senet is a race game, like Backgammon or Sorry. The object is to move all of your pawns off the board before your opponent does. You roll a single die to decide how far you can move one of your pawns during your turn. If you land on your opponent's pawn, you switch places with them, unless your opponent has two or more pawns in a row.
There are also special squares marked on the board with hieroglyphics, that can either help or hinder you. Some trap you, requiring that you roll a certain number to get out of them. Another protects you from your opponent. The worst one sends your pawn back several squares.
