Eggman's up to no good again, and only Sonic can stop him! Sonic Zone is a parody based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series featuring some characters in its originals and with very simple controls. Players lead Sonic to the goal while sweeping enemies and avoiding obstacles on the way. Sonic attacks only by jumping on enemies' heads; he doesn't have the ability to roll or use Spin Dash as in the other games of the Sonic series. Like its originals, rings are presented; players get rings for more points. The only different is that rings cannot keep Sonic alive - every touch to enemies can cost Sonic a life. Other items are presented: Ring TVs (each adds 10 rings) and Sparkle TVs (make Sonic invincible for a while). Obstacles are not various: just (mostly) deep pits and spikes. There are a total of 4 zones (Rust Winter, Festival, Riverside and Nocturne), each of which contains 3 levels (two normal levels and a boss levels). The boss is always Eggman (running around in the first zone and in his ship in the others). After defeating Eggman in the last zone, players have to encounter him again in the so-called "Final Act". When players run out of live, the game is over and a high score board will be presented. Players will be asked to write their names on the board if their score is at least higher than the lowest score on the board.

The graphics are in 3D, looking similar to Sonic CD. There are very few option in the game menu: players only have a choice to play or quit the game. [source:mobygames]
