Game Classification

Spacewars! is, as the name applies, a clone of Space War. In this action game two space ships battle each other. The aim is to destroy the other ship, which is either controlled by the computer or by a second player, before it destroys the own ship.

The game control is similar to Asteroids. By using the arrow or WASD keys the player thrusts and rotates his ship. Because of the games gravity function the ship always pushes into the centre of the screen. Pressing the down key results in shooting. The ships can only shoot a certain amount of torpedoes at the same time, so every shot should be planned carefully. Each shot and each use of the ships thrust results in losing energy. Getting shot by the enemy has the same effect. The battle is lost when the own space ship has no energy left. [source:mobygames]
