Springdale: Över stock och sten is one of four games in the Springdale series released at the same time. Each game in the series is an area of Springdale that is connected to the others through a central island. The player takes control of a young girl who get to enter the horse riding world of Springdale and ride many different types of horses. In addition to riding the horses the player gets to work in the stable where she learns about how they should be taken care of.

The world of Springdale is fully rendered in 3D and the player moves around it from a third person perspective. The player will come across different characters that she can interact with and retrieve quests from. Often these quests involve challenges where the player has to complete a race within time. When a quest is completed the player is awarded with money and her reputation increases. With the money the player can buy new clothes for herself or equipment for her horse. An increased reputation leads to more horses available to the player. While riding the horses it is important to be aware of their needs. They need to get water when thirsty and get fed when hungry. The player also needs to groom the horse as well as fix its hooves.

The game has a built in course editor where the player can create her own jumper courses with different kinds of obstacles. [source:mobygames]
