Game Classification

Star Beacons is an arcade game very similar to Peggle with a cartoony space theme. The player controls a stationary cannon at the top of the screen, and the objective is to aim it at any 180º angle and shoot balls to hit all the stars on the field and complete the level. The spheres bounce and ricochet around the screen like balls in a pachinko or pinball machine, but with the added bonus of destroying most of the obstacles in their way. Eventually the spheres fall to the bottom and the player loses them, with the exception of the ones rescued by the vortex continuously moving sideways.

Special items and features appear on some levels. The mushroom cloud button destroys all the surrounding obstacles when hit by the ball. Meteors and shooting enemies can deflect the sphere, changing its trajectory. Black holes swallow passing spheres. In all levels, a special achievement card can be won by completing a specific goal, like clearing all objects. [source:mobygames]
