Game Classification

Katharine Sanders, a young woman whose point of view the game is shown from, gets invited to the engagement party of Mia Allard, her friend from high school days. Upon arrival she soon realises there is some tension between other party attendees. Things only get worse when Mia notices her pink diamond engagement ring is gone and the police get involved. Katharine decides to do some investigating on her own.

The Stolen Diamond Ring is an adventure visual novel, not a Western style adventure. No inventory, no puzzles or minigames. Only dialogue options (choosing different answers) and menu options. The investigation consists of talking to everyone involved in the incident, moving between locations and trying to figure out what really happened. All the interactions in the game are done through dialogue with other characters that trigger the corresponding branchings and selecting the corresponding location where the dialogue will take place.

The relationships between characters are shown on a diagram which, in combination with Katharine's diary, helps the player keep track of what's going on. [source:mobygames]
