Sudoku Crunch for Kids is a slightly simpler version of the traditional mathematical puzzle games. As in the versions for older players, the puzzles require the player to fill in squares on a grid, but in this game the player can select a theme and use objects instead of numbers. The available themes are the standard numbers, or flowers, sports, space, shapes and dinosaurs. Gameplay remains the same as in all Sudoku - each row, column and box must hold all of the objects without repeating any.
The player has the option of seeing illegal moves; when this is selected, the square where the player is placing an object will glow green or red: red squares may not be used, and green squares can be used but are not necessarily correct. There are three possible difficulty levels - Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced, and the player can choose to play a timed game. There are hints and tips if desired, and the help screen explains the rules and how to play, as well as giving a brief history of the game. Puzzles may also be printed out for later solving; possibly a better solution than using the hotkey the game provides, to hide the game instantly for the player who is supposed to be doing other things.
